Councillor Chouinard is in his fourth term on Council. He’s been in Edson for about 40 years and enjoys spending his down time with his wife Karin and two sons Ryan and Darin. Councillor Chouinard has been very involved on many boards and non-profit groups over the years and wants to be a “voice for the people” while keeping the Town of Edson fiscally responsible

About:
Mayor Zahara was elected for a second term as Mayor in October 2021. Prior to the election Kevin had 10 years of municipal council experience. Mayor Zahara spent 14 years in radio broadcasting and 3 years working at the Alberta Legislature as Press Secretary and advisor to the Minister of Aboriginal Relations, Minister of Environment & Sustainable Resource Development and Minister of Finance. Married to his wife Kristie and step-daughter Keira, they love everything Edson has to offer. When not being the Mayor, Kevin works at a local car dealership and is a longtime volunteer with Edson Citizens on Patrol. Mayor Zahara is focused on Economic Growth, Investing in Families and Safer Communities.

Peter Taylor
Councillor
About:
Councillor Taylor was elected in 2021 and is currently serving in his first term on Council. He is a teacher at Holy Redeemer Catholic Jr/Sr High School where he teaches Drama and Social Studies, and leads an award-winning extra-curricular drama program. Outside of Council and school, he loves spending time with his family - his beautiful wife, Danielle, their children, Nolan and Lux, and their two dogs, Maybe and Jasper. He takes great pride in serving on Council and his goal is to work with the community to help make Edson the best place to live, work and raise and family.

Krystal Baier

About:
Councillor Baier has lived in Edson for 20 years and is a proud parent to her children, Parker and Lucy. She has been an Edson Councillor since October 2017. Prior to that, she spent 5 years in banking and 9 years field operating in the natural gas industry. She has volunteered with many organizations and is eager to serve the community. She believes Edson has a lot to offer families and professionals and wants to continue making it the best it can be.

Ed Moore
Councillor
About:
Prior to Councillor Moore's election, he was in media for 44 years - 12 years in radio and 32 years as a journalist for the Whitecourt Star and Edson Leader. He and his wife Sandy have a son, Adam. He remains very active in the community, taking karate twice a week and riding his bicycle in the non-snow months. Councillor Moore loves Edson and will always strive to do what’s best for the town and its citizens.

Trevor Bevan
Councillor
About:
Councillor Bevan was born and raised in Edson and employed in the Oil and Gas sector for 46 years. He is married with 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. As a business owner, he enjoys working with the public. Over the years, he has volunteered with many groups, clubs, boards, and committees. He is proud to continue to serve the citizens of this community for a third term.

The priorities for 2022-23 include:
- Work with partners to seek long-term solutions that address addictions, transitional housing, homelessness, and mental health.
- Work with regional partners to develop a plan to meet the infrastructure and operational cost requirements of the Regional Multiplex.
- Identify and prioritize infrastructure needs and associated cost impacts.
- Plan infrastructure that will accommodate population and economic growth.
- Continue to build relationships with stakeholders external to the Town of Edson; including community groups, the business community, and Yellowhead County.

Meeting Schedule
The Council meeting schedule has been adopted as follows:
Regular Meetings of Council to be held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, in the Council Chambers, commencing at 7:00 P.M.
Committee of the Whole meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month in the Council Chambers, commencing at 7:00 P.M.
The following meetings will be cancelled: December 20, 2022 (winter break); January 3, 2023 (winter break); July 4, 2023 (summer break); July 11, 2023 (summer break), August 1, 2023 (summer break); and August 8, 2023 (summer break).
The January 10, 2023, Committee of the Whole meeting has also been cancelled and replaced with a regular Meeting of Council at 7:00 P.M. in Council Chambers.

All Council Meetings take place in the Council Chambers at the Edson Civic Centre unless noted otherwise. Meetings are also live streamed on the Town of Edson YouTube Channel, Facebook Live, or at www.edson.ca/live.
